7 SepITONG THE CHILI KING

If there is something good about Itong, it is his ability to eat chili. One day Itong went to town to buy some ingredients for several dishes they planned to prepare in their yearly family celebration. After listing all the ingredients and spices needed he took a tricycle and went to the town’s public market. After completing his entire list in an hour of marketing Itong was ready to go back home. But on his way to get his ride, he met a group of young men and a young lady having a drinking spree. They were as noisy as they appeared drunk although not seeking for trouble. All they did was joke and have fun with each other. Since they are very familiar with Itong, they invited him to join them for a drink. At first Itong refused, but later he was obliged to join them when a beautiful young lady personally invited him. They gave him a bottle of beer, Itong drunk it. Another bottle more, and more bottles came and were emptied. Itong now got drunk. He laughed so hard and at times embraced and kisses the beautiful young lady who was also game at that time (but brewing some sinister plans in mind). Since he was carrying with him a basketful of various ingredients and spices for the dishes to be prepared for the party, the young lady proposed a challenge to the group- to determine who among themselves the bravest and the toughest in a chili eating… Drunk at that, all the guys accepted the challenge. Itong acceded only on condition, should he be the winner, he shall be called the chili king, and that as a prize he will marry the young lady. The young lady, so certain that her ploy could always work in her favor (and that nobody ever survived the Chili challenge before) she gladly welcomed Itong’s condition. However, she also sealed Itong’s agreement that if the latter failed to prove he is the toughest guy of them all in a test she’s the only one knowledgeable about. And now the chili eating contest began. After eating several pieces, all the other guys got burning sensation in their mouth. Itong however remained the last standing guy. The lady now unleashed her final challenge. If Itong can eat four hundred pieces more of chili, the lady will be his bride. So Itong started to meet the challenge. As the show progressed more and more people trooped in to watch Itong eat several hundreds of chili. After eating over four hundred pieces of chili, Itong was declared the winner and crowned as a king. They crowned him with chili in the head. People cheered him for what he had accomplished. He was cheered for breaking the record. The young lady however collapsed out of desperation. She did not know Itong had a habit of drinking coconut oil, and eating lots of chili. At that time, Itong did not only drink an ordinary coconut oil, he drunk virgin coconut oil. Actually Itong did not also expect to win this contest; he just wanted to have fun. When the young lady regained her consciousness, she asked Itong if he was really serious about the deal, Itong stood by his word. The young lady could not do anything but comply with the deal despite her disappointment. She already offered such challenged so many times and emerged the winner. But she learned a bitter and painful lesson in life, NOT ALL THE TIME. This time she had to accept her faith and stood by her word. Itong brought her home as a big price to the surprise of his family and friends. The party was postponed as Itong and his family went to ask for the hand of the lady. Young lady’s family was disappointed but what else could they do…They warned Chinita (she looks like a Chinese- white skinned and with very narrow eyes), before but she never listened. She thought nobody could really consume such volume of chili in one sitting. She thought she was the only person who gifted with iron tongue. While it is so, she underestimated Itong’s capability. His tongue is said to be tougher than any toughest steel in the world (figuratively speaking). Not long, they got married. During their first night, Chinita expected Itong to be as hot as chili. Yes he was, as so with his tongue. Chinita could not ask for more then isn’t it? Yes, figuratively he did not disappoint Chinita during their first night. But in their honeymoon night the unexpected happened. Chinita screamed so loud of what appeared to be a casual first time bed scene encounter… “Be patient, Chinita, that’s usually the case of honeymooners; and Itong is as hot as a burning rod,” Itong’s father explained in comforting Chinita… “I know it’s your first time and it is really painful.” Chinita just cried her anger in desperation (for losing or retaining her virginity?)…”Yes, he is hot as chilis believe me, “she complained. “And what is wrong with that,” Itong’s mother butted in. “What’s wrong with what I said?” Chinita answered her back. “YOUR SON IS REALLY A KING…A RED DEVIL KING! You know why, HIS PENIS IS NO BIGGER THAN A RED DEVIL CHILI! NOW, TELL ME, DO YOU CALL THAT (SONOFABITCH) A KING?”
